(sigh)
When I was growing up in a small, southeastern Virginia town, I lived next door to the high school principal. This was a narrow-minded, nosey individual who made my life hell. He tormented me daily, embarrassed me in my classes by questioning my parents' Democratic politics, enrolled me in classes I didn't want to take, peered through his kitchen window to monitor my dates. One day he stopped me in the main hallway at the school, pulled out a ruler, measured the length of my skirt and proceeded to send me home in the middle of the day to change clothes. Of course, he made certain that he did this in front of 1/3 of the student body in order to humiliate me to the max.
I despised this man.
As I've grown older, however, and contemplated all this, I've wondered if he didn't have my best interests at heart....whether he was, in fact, trying to teach me some life lessons.
You know what?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
He was a mean son-of-a-bitch and I'll never change my mind!

The Principal is your pal. Even if he is a peeping tom and a ruler wielding tyrant.
